POP'S BLACKBERRY COBBLER...

My husband tried his hand at making a Blackberry Cobbler for Josh since
that is his very favorite thing to eat.  Hubby wrapped it up and gave it
to Josh on Christmas (with all his other presents) and sent it home with him.
We ask him later how it was and if it was good. 
Josh got this funny look on his face and
said mmmm I'm not sure.  I put it in the fridge and forgot about it. 
Think I'm going over there with some ice cream and help myself!

Josh and the "RazorBack Snuggie" that he gave his Mom
for Christmas.  A couple days before, he ask her if she liked them
and she said "no way"!  I had one and hated it so I sold it at our garage sale.
Well she decided she liked this one!



A BIT GUILTY...

Guess I should feel a bit guilty but I don't!  I am really looking forward to Monday, December 26, when all this Christmas stuff is over.  Don't get me wrong, I'm not as bad as that old guy in the Christmas Story movie but I will sure be glad when this is all over.  This little Santa is the only Christmas decoration I have in my house.  We haven't put up a tree in the past five years.  Unlike the rest of you my family is not the "Leave it to Beaver" type family or any of those other TV families you see all lovie-dovie.  We all get together for Christmas Eve and have for years but it's a big unhappy chore for most of  them.  We have Christmas Dinner at my mom's on Christmas day and if her favorite child is not in attendance she is like an old wet hen.  My husband and I are trying to change it this year and have the dinner at our house....wish me luck!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY WILLIAM...

Today is William's first birthday.  He is one of the prettiest babies
I have seen in a long time.  William is my sister's grandson and is
so sweet and again so pretty.  Happy Birthday William! 

HOPPER HERITAGE

I found some more picture of my dad's aunt Sarah's family.  I don't know what it
is that makes me love genealogy but I do! 
I could and do stay on the genealogy sites most of the day
and just have a jolly good time all by myself.   I have seven
notebooks full of family pictures and facts on the Hopper's
and three on the Moore's.  One notebook is full of Civil War records
on my G Grandfather Moore.   My aunt, Ann  Moore Gulick, sent off
for the records and we sure found a wealth of information.  Even
found letters my G Grandmother had written about getting his
pension and more letters written by my Grandfather when my
G Grandmother had died.  You just never know what you are going
to find.  The best thing of all is finding cousins I never knew I had and
becoming friends and even getting to meet a few of them!

I love being able to have Ancestry.com on my computer at
home.  I waited 2/3 years before I committed to paying
the price but as much as I am on it and as much
information and pictures that I have found, it was worth
it to me.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOM...

Today is my mother's 87th birthday.  She is so spry and such a go-getter and
can do anything she wants to do.  Any time I wonder if I can do
something, I think well my mom did it, so I can too.   Sometimes she
drives me crazy and I'm sure there are times that I drive her crazy but I
do hope that I can do the things at age 87 that she does.  Happy Birthday Mom!

SCRAPN AND SWINGING...

Scrapping some old favorite pictures of my
grandson Justin.  He is the one that is now
a MARINE and just got home from the big "A" land
and we are so thankful he made it home safe! 

BOUNCE IT!

1. It will chase ants away when you lay a sheet near them. It also repels mice.
2. Spread sheets around foundation areas, or in trailers, or cars that are sitting and it keeps mice from entering your vehicle.
3. It takes the odor out of books and photo albums that don't get opened too often.
4. It repels mosquitoes. Tie a sheet of Bounce through a belt loop when outdoors during mosquito season.
5. Eliminate static electricity from your television (or computer) screen.
6. Since Bounce is designed to help eliminate static cling, wipe your television screen with a used sheet of Bounce to keep dust from resettling..
7. Dissolve soap scum from shower doors. Clean with a sheet of Bounce.
8. To freshen the air in your home - Place an individual sheet of Bounce in a drawer or hang in the closet.
9. Put Bounce sheet in vacuum cleaner.
10. Prevent thread from tangling. Run a threaded needle through a sheet of Bounce before beginning to sew.
11. Prevent musty suitcases. Place an individual sheet of Bounce inside empty luggage before storing.
12. To freshen the air in your car - Place a sheet of Bounce under the front seat.
13. Clean baked-on foods from a cooking pan. Put a sheet in a pan, fill with water, let sit overnight, and sponge clean. The anti-static agent apparently weakens the bond between the food and the pan..
14. Eliminate odors in wastebaskets. Place a sheet of Bounce at the bottom of the wastebasket.
15.. Collect cat hair. Rubbing the area with a sheet of Bounce will magnetically attract all the loose hairs.
16. Eliminate static electricity from Venetian blinds.. Wipe the blinds with a sheet of Bounce to prevent dust from resettling.
17. Wipe up sawdust from drilling or sand papering. A used sheet of Bounce will collect sawdust like a tack cloth.
18. Eliminate odors in dirty laundry. Place an individual sheet of Bounce at the bottom of a laundry bag or hamper.
19. Deodorize shoes or sneakers. Place a sheet of Bounce in your shoes or sneakers overnight.
20. Golfers put a Bounce sheet in their back pocket to keep the bees away.
21. Put a Bounce sheet in your sleeping bag and tent before folding and storing them. It will keep them smelling fresh.

22. Wet a Bounce sheet, hose down your car, and wipe love bugs off easily with the wet Bounce.

BURNING LEAVES...

After all day yesterday and this morning, Josh and his Grampa are
burning leaves with a lot more to fall.  They worked all morning then we
went to lunch at the Gallery and Josh got his favorite Blackberry Cobbler
then it was home to call the burn control and get to work.  Job well done!

JOSH DAY...

Had a fun day with grandson, Josh.  Took him to
get his tire fixed and a bulb for his tail light then to
lunch at McDonald's.  . 

COLORS AT HOME...

Coming home yesterday I took some pictures
of the trees and the changing colors then as
we drove up to the house I noticed the tree
in the front yard was the prettiest one of all.

EARTHQUAKE/TORNADO...

What in the world is going on?  Tornado warnings on the TV until 4 in the morning and then a 4.7 earthquake rumbles across my house!  Windows and doors rattling with a low rumble noise.  I think enough is enough....Anyone else feeling these?

5.6 EARTHQUAKE

This is what woke me up last night just before11:00 PM!  I really thought it was strong wind but sit up in bed thinking why is the pictures rattleing?  Just as I laid back down my grandson, Josh called and ask if I felt the earthquake and I "said is that what that was?".  I should have known after living in California for so long but it didn't even enter my head but it sure shook the house!  We live in Arkansas and about three hours away from Sparks, Oklahoma.  I sure am glad I wasn't there!

5.6 quake strikes Okla., 10 aftershocks follow

SPARKS, Okla. - Oklahoma residents more accustomed to tornadoes than earthquakes have been shaken by weekend temblors that cracked buildings, buckled a highway and rattled nerves. One quake late Saturday was the state's strongest ever and jolted a college football stadium 50 miles away.

It was followed by 10 aftershocks by midmorning Sunday. But although homes and other buildings cracked and suffered minor damage, there were no reports of severe injuries or major devastation.

The magnitude 5.6 earthquake was Oklahoma's strongest on record, said Jessica Turner, a geophysicist with the U.S. Geological Survey. Centered near Sparks, 44 miles northeast of Oklahoma City, it could be felt throughout the state and in Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri, northern Texas and some parts of Illinois and Wisconsin. It followed a magnitude 4.7 quake early Saturday that was felt from Texas to Missouri.
