SNOW BOUND...

This is what most of our roads look like today and with a

high of 22, I think they will look that way tomorrow. 
Hubby cleared off the walk way and found an
inch of ice under the snow.  Kids have been out of
school for three days and looks like they will be
out again tomorrow, how sad, right kids? :(

We did get out for the first time this week and made it to

the Post Office and to McDonald's for a quick lunch. 

Nice to get out but Oooooo so nice to be home :)

AFGHANISTAN...HE'S HURT...

Woke up to a text/call from my daughter this morning and these messages on FB from his mom and Dad....

(Mom)   Nothing like waking up to a phone call from your son who is in a recovery hospital in Afgan!! Sgt. said he is fine and should be back out in the field within 24 hours. He apparently hit an IED a couple days ago. GOD HELP ME GET THROUGH THE NEXT 7 MONTHS!!!!!

(Dad)   Justin called this morning. He is ok however, he is in a hospital recovery center. His convoy ran over an IED that left him and his passenger unconciouse. We talked to his seargent and expected to return to the field tomorrow or Friday after an evaluation. He has all his toes and fingers. Boy, how this becomes so real.

his troop was going on a mission
and he wouldn't be in touch for
over a week...long time :(

MORE SNOW AND ICE COMING....

Four to eight inches of snow plus two inches of ice is
suppose to hit our area today starting around 6 p.m.  Just to
be ready we have the candles, the air mattress, the stove and
the oil lamps out and ready.  Oh yeah, we have extra water and
new batteries and a stack of books to read. 
Our house is the only one that has gas heat so the
mattress is ready for cold family members when the electric
goes out as it ALWAYS does here in N.W. Arkansas.  We are
trying to see if my Mom and my Aunt are going to come over here
tonight or wait until after the storm hits then call us to come and get
them.  I just called and told them to decide because if it gets as bad
as they say, we won't be driving six miles out to the country
to pick them up.  Not that we wouldn't but because we couldn't.
So wish us well for the next couple of days, and let's
hope the Weather Man has it wrong again!!!

yesterday but they didn't go until this morning.

NO WORRIES JD. Lord wrap these boys all in your arms...Lead them, guide them, protect them in all of their ways. We ask they have safe passage on their way to this craziness. BLESS THE FAMILIES OF EACH ONE AND GIVE US PEACE AND UNDERSTANDING.  Soften the hearts of those who are in charge of all this.  Let our loved ones all come home.  We put them in your hands, and I know there is no better place to be....IN JESUS NAME I PRAY...AMEN!

AFGHANISTAN BOUND :(

Well TODAY is the DAY! Justin, my 20 year old grandson, left for AFGHANISTAN this morning. He is with 1800 other young MARINES going over there to this war and will spend their first night in Germany. He told me he had been trained by the BEST and had 45 of the BEST MARINES in his patroon, so not to worry. In his own words "THIS COUNTRY BOY WILL SURVIVE".

TEAR JERKER DAY...

Justin left for N.C. this morning after being home for Christmas break.  It was sooooo hard!  When he gets back to Camp Lejune he will deploy around the 23rd of January for Afghanistan.  Heart Breaking!!!!!!! Tear Jerker!!!!!!!!  He said good-by to his mom then stopped here for a quick hug and told me to take care of his mom, then he was off to pick up a buddy in Tennessee then on to N.C.  His mom called me about an hour later and all we could do was cry to each other over the phone.  Just a Tear Jerker Day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My daughter loves jammies with feet in them so she got me a pair for Christmas.  They are monkey jammies! 
When I opened them she asked me when was the last time I wore jammies with the feet in them and I told her
I thought it was when I was three.  She was laughing and said she just had to get them but I could take them
back and trade them.  I wouldn't trade them for the world but I did tell her I wanted the little sock monkey to
go with them...

TIME OF YEAR...

I don't know what it is but Christmas is just not my time of year.  I just do what I HAVE to do. I haven't put up a tree in the last three years.  It's out in the garage but I just don't want to mess with it, same with the lights.  I even hate wrapping packages!  As for Christmas Dinner...take me out! I can't even find any of my Christmas pictures to post! Maybe I have the Baa HumBugs ;)
